One Second After

What Would YOU do?

Survival Tips from fiction??

As I sit here watching the NFL Draft (Go Browns!) I find myself thinking about this amazing book that I read a few years ago. In fact, I almost think about it every day it was that good. It is fiction but one of those true fiction books. First, I will start with explaining something.

What is an EMP? Electromagnetic pulse, is a short burst of electromagnetic energy. EMP interference is generally disruptive or damaging to electronic equipment, and at higher energy levels, a powerful EMP event such as a lightning strike can damage physical objects such as buildings and aircraft structures. Weapons have been developed to deliver the damaging effects of high-energy EMP.

The 2009 novel One Second After and its sequel One Year Later: A John Matherson Novel by William R. Forstchen is about a nuclear EMP attack against the United States told from the perspective of a small community in North Carolina. The community is cut off from nearly all outside information by the EMP attack.  Large numbers of people die from starvation, lack of medicines, and the lack of medical care. The EMP attacks in One Second After are launched from missiles in container ships.  After the book was released, a Russian company started advertising missile launchers hidden inside shipping containers made for launching from such ships. (Scary!!!)

So back to my question, what would you do? I highly recommend reading the book. Just to get your mind thinking on survival and being prepared. It is truly a life changer!
